This gets brought up every year and this year should be no different.  Since the economic conditions change from year to year (and because I got into both shows), which one is the show to do?  I've only done the Grove and I've pretty much decided to stay with what I know.  What is everyone else doing?

  • It's pretty unanimous among the artists i know that ArtiGras is on a serious downhill skid so even tho the grove isn't what it used to be it would the logical choice if you can afford to do it.
  • It seems that I have had that same experience at Artigras/ he bought 16 pieces-alot $$$/ half the expenses of the grove/ and all the Haggling hassels of both- Every Given Weekend- who knows each year - FOR YOU BARB_ Whereever you go you will do well with your killer work
  • The thing about the Grove that is so great is that it could be a slow show and then someone can walk into your booth and spend $12K on your work. Those people are walking around. I used to love when the trolley would come through at 8 AM on the first morning before the show. More than once I had my best show ever before the show officially started. Unfortunately, they don't do that any more. I found out about the parking lot camping by accident one year. I didn't bother getting a room and for some reason every place I called was booked unless I wanted to spend $350 a night which wasn't going to happen. I figured I would stay in the parking lot but was kind of embarrassed about it until I looked around and saw the number of artists who were doing the same thing.
