I would like to put the sidewalls in the washer on cold cycle. They are a mess from the Edina rain festival with pollen and dirt. Caravan's site makes reference to hand washing the canopy but nothing about the sidewalls. I think EZ is a similar polyester material. Thanks for your help. Jim

  • thanks to those who responded to my laundry room question - all four sides out of the washer and drying outdoors. I did have to scrub around the lower edges and now I will tackle the canopy by spreading it out on the basement floor.
  • Ha - something else they never taught you in art school! Making art fair equipment last and keeping it clean. Yep, the washing machine works fine for those sides. After a particularly dirty show we'd set the canopy up in the driveway with the legs set low and use the hose, a sponge and scrub away.

I have seen people who wipe down their whole display before they pack it up at the end of a show. Their display is always sparkling. Me, I just want to go home at that point.

Do remember if you ever pack up in the rain or your canopy and sides are really wet to get them out of your vehicle the next day. Awful to invest that money and then have mildewed equipment.
  • Don't use bleach...can cause yellowing and will cause slow disintegration of the material. Using vinegar water or dish soap works fine.

My trimline sidewalls would probably never fit in a regular washing machine, so I lay it out on the driveway or yard and I get down with a wash clothes, mop etc and scrub it. I rinse with the garden hose with sprayer on it.

Works well enough...at least till the next outdoor show.
