Class B RV?

I'm researching what type of RV might work best for me to travel to shows.  I'm single, currently fit my whole set up into a Honda Fit (with not an inch to spare).  I like the maneuverability and fuel economy of the conversion vans, but wonder about storage.  Besides piling it all into the floor space in the van, are there any other options?  Don't really want to pull a trailer, not tall/strong enough to load stuff on the roof.  Anyone out there who travels in one of these?  How do you do it?

  • thanks so much for your responses! I guess I need to start getting comfortable with those big class c's! I'll have to do some test drives and see if I can handle them. My comfort zone is definitely with small vehicles!

  • www.rvtrader.com is a site for used units. Somebody told me that you should never buy a new RV as your first one. They are notorious for problems. A used one will have all the kinks worked out.
  • WE have camped on and off the years. If you don't want to tow, a class c toyhauler is probably your best bet. Here is a good forum to read and ask questions. www.woodalls.com

  • Class B rvs are generally limited in storage space, although some larger ones have additional storage space. ALso class B rvs are really expensive. The Class c is buit on the same van chassis and some models afford you lots of storage. Our favorite is a 2006 Coachmen 295th, a toyhauler, 29.5 feet long and the back bedroom is a huge garage. You also have a dinette sleeper and a sofa sleeper in the living area and pricewize, about half of what you would expect to pay for a class b. A little hard to find though, but they are out there. Remember that RVs have a hige markup and investigate through NADA.com thoroughly and negotiate, negotiate, negotiate.
