Just a reminder that taking booth pictures with smart phones or tablets won't give you the best results for jurying. And it's even worse for photographing your artwork. There's no way to support the device (like in using a tripod) and from my experience, the camera has a tendency to blow out (loose detail in) white areas.

A humorous but sad encounter. I drove over to Harrisburg Sunday to walk the show and hand out business cards. I introduced myself to one jeweler and her response was that she doesn't need to hire a photographer anymore because she has her camera with her all the time, and holds up an iPhone. I just shrugged and walked away.

  • As a photographer, I shoot my booth multiple times with the Nikon D600 or the Hasselblad 500C or with the Rolleicord... I think the medium format film prints work best ;)

    • I also use a Nikon for shooting my work, but i carry a mini Cannon Power Shot with me at all times because of its convenience.  I use the Nikon only for professional shots.  The Canon is great for taking photos that I might want to use for my art work or for family gatherings, but it does not have the high resolution of the NiKon.  You are really high style with a Hasselblad.  Best cameras going.

  • One word: Hipstamatic.

Tripod adapter, and everything you need to be a professional photographer.

When folks ask me what kind of camera I use, I hold up my Hipstamatic 100, and say,"This is all I need".

    Truly amazing.

  • Wow. To think someone would bet their livelihood on cell phone pictures is shocking. I am way too anxious for that. Professional studio photos only for me.
  • They get it, or they don't. Sigh. Interestingly, Larry, I just got off the podcast with two of the committee members from Winter Park and I asked for some jury tips and Alice immediately said, "don't take your images with your phone." Maybe cellphones are good enough for Harrisburg, but not for Winter Park.
