So, I didn't get into the Columbus arts festival this year, not a real shocker for me. Someday I'll figure this jury thing out. I do have to say though I am thoroughly impressed with their process. I've never been to the show and this is the first year I've applied to it. Even though I've never applied before, I have paid attention to it for a couple of years.
I have to say from the start, the fact that they let you watch the jurying seems pretty cool and unusual in and of itself. The thing that impressed me even more was that along with my gracious thanks, but sorry letter was an offer to tell me what my score was with an email reply. So I did. Within a day, I received not only my score (just missed the cutoff in the second round), but an offer to help improve my jurying etc. since it was my first time applying.
It just seemed to me that they are truly interested in helping us out and I for one appreciated that. In three years I've never been offered the information that they provide to artists seemingly in an effort to help.
Thanks to you Columbus, I'll definitely try again next year.
btw, Congrats to Connie, Lisa, & the gang at ABE on their top five ranking in AFSB!
Pete
