Hello,

I am new to the art fair business and I live in FL. I was wondering if anybody has ever participated in the Art and Craft Fair in Fort Lauderdale every July, promoted by Buckler Promotion.  This year it will be on July 24th and I am getting my stuff ready to go, but I would like to know if it is a good, busy show, if the promoter has a good reputation...

If anyone can give me a few tips, it would be nice.

Thank you!

  • I've done a Buckler show and they are well organized and well done. A lot depends on your medium. There will be buy-sell. I saw a lot of teddy bears dipped in wax and silk flowers. I also saw some fairly expensive hand made furniture sell though. It is definitely country crafts and knick-knacks. It is not a fine art or fine craft show by any means but it will be crowded and it's not a bad place to get your feet wet talking to people about your art and testing your display. Do not forget that it may be air-conditioned inside but you will be unloading outside. I did an inside show once in August in Clearwater and got very sick from the heat doing set up.
  • I have been to the Miami show in November. It was not high quality crafts by any stretch of the imagination. (there were some but not many) It was a great place to get inexpensive yet fun Christmas presents for grab bags etc.

The crowds were very thick, long lines to get in, but we are talking a different time of year so that isn't necessarily an indication of what you will see.

They did a lot of advertising, atleast in the paper.

Heck, it will be the middle of July, if the place is air-conditioned, what else is there to do in Ft. Lauderdale?
