I see that the Brandywine Festival has just extended their deadline for application. I'd love to hear from you if you've done this show before. Any reviews or thoughts?

ALL: THIS THREAD WAS ORIGINALLY POSTED IN 2010 so be careful when you draw conclusions based on the replies therein. Some of them are more recent. A recent comment mentions that the show is canceled for 2013. For what it's worth I went to their website and it lists August 1, 2013 as the application deadline for this year's show. If you are wondering if a show is canceled, it's always best to contact the show directly before posting a question to a social neworking forum.
Along the same lines: One of the unfortunate characteristics of AFI's hosting application is that when you post a new comment to an old thread, the app pulls that old thread to the "top of the heap" and displays it on the Discussions page as though it was a new thread. That can't be changed by Connie; that behavior is hard-wired into the site design.
So if your question about a show deals with a time-sensitive issue (deadlines, or whether it's been canceled), the best course of action is to post a NEW thread, rather than appending your question to an old thread.
Thank you, forget where I saw this thread, but it looked new to me. Also, my question was pertaining to Larry's post, I was asking if 2012 show was cancelled, because I thought there was a 2012 show.
Hi Judy, no worries...it's an easy mistake to make even for folks who have been on AFI since its inception.
If memory serves there was a lengthy thread after the show got cancelled..if I did the math right on Larry's post, it must have been the 2009 show that was cancelled.
Thanks Larry.
Oh lovely.... a show with a checkered past!
It's interesting, I've applied for the Neptune Festival (actually had a very successful experience last year) - just got an email from them saying "Due to the slew of inquiries we received after a successful Boardwalk Art Show, we've extended the Neptune deadline to JULY 10!"
Ahhhh - the joys of doing shows in an unstable economy.

New director after last year's show was canceled. If it's been moved back to the park that was the original location it could be as good as it used to be as much as any show this year can be.
I don't know anything more about it except that last year a lot of artists got screwed out of their booth fee, which is why there is a new director and they are probably having a difficult time getting enough artists to apply..

Hi, all, it is July 2013, and I just heard from the organizer of the show that it is on.
Here's what he wrote:
We'll be there. (At least I assume so. They just cashed our check; no email/snail mail yet.)

Ah, new people on a forum! (meaning me)
