I began a thread earlier this week titled Friends as Booth Sitters. After much discussion, I realized it would likely benefit many folks to pass along a tip sheet to their zealous booth mates. Regardless of how much time they're helping you, I want to provide a list of tips to help you help them acclimate their presence without fracturing your friendship.
Here is where I need your help: Many of you have already chimed in with ideas and I'd like to formalize and solidify those ideas by asking you to submit them here. I want to collate those ideas into a tip sheet that you'd be proud to pass along and help you open the dialog without the fear of implying tyranny.
My goal is to
- Inject as much tongue-in-cheek humor as possible because nothing is worse than being forced to read an officious rule book laid out by your mother in law.
- Credit you with your tip, including a link to your Web site. If you don't want credit for fear of tender situations, just include '-anonymous' at the end.
- Provide this tip sheet on many platforms, making it available to all who want to read it. These include text on Web site, PDF (for printouts), a podcast, and other options.
Here are a couple of ways I would encourage you to lay out your tip:
1. The way of a Definition (example)
Groining: Standing in the booth with both hands in your pocket. When a customer walks in, you keep your hands in your pocket, lift your heels as you tilt your pelvis toward them and steer your hips in the direction of the product. Instead, take a hand out of the pocket, with open palm and closed fingers, stretch out your arm like a maitre 'd and guide them around the booth toward the product they want to see.

2. Cut and paste (there may be some editing)
Original tip from Karole "A few of her friends came, she quietly explained that they couldn't hang in the booth, but she could take a quick break and go for some "eats" as she called it. Just a total professional! Earned her spending $$ and then some!"
My edit:
- Booth Crashers A few of my daughter's friends came to visit and she quietly explained that they couldn't hang in the booth, but she could take a quick break and go for some "eats" as she called it. Karole Bowlds, www.twistedangeljewelrydesigns.com,
As you can see, I appended a fun title to Karole's tip and edited her passage because she had more than one tip in her paragraph from the previous thread.
More formatting ideas welcomed but this gives us a great start.
What is your tip?
