Booth Review Help please

Just joined this community. What a incredible wealth of information can be found here! Amazing! I just finished my first 2 events ever and was somewhat disappointed with the results. With what I've read here I have some specific ideas of what I might do, BUT, before I go crazy trying new things every other event I want to ask for some feedback from the group. Looking for feedback in terms of selling, not a booth jury shot,

  • I think the most important thing you can have, which I consider the equivalent of a banner, is a large piece of work. BIG. So people passing by catch hold of something and "read" your banner. When I look into your booth I'm just not drawn in, and it's probably because my eyes can't lock onto anything because they remain scanning.

    • My first reaction is thats a lot better! Nice progress.

  • Here goes my not for jury image suggestions, though it would work for that also. Your booth looks scattered. Too many small pieces not hung in any kind of way that's visually pleasing to the eye. It's impossible to focus on any one image. That keeps a lot of people who might be interested from entering your booth.

You need a few larger center pieces with smaller pieces hung symmetrically drawing the viewer's eyes to the larger pieces. Also, if you're not hanging on the outside, drop your canopy walls to cut down on the backlighting from the mesh walls. I just redid my display using mesh walls like yours. I'm going to move my back seven foot wall (with a doorway) in three feet to make room for inventory. I'll be hanging white fabric behind the mesh walls so people won't see the boxes behind the wall.

    • 301671358?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024Would this be a better setup? 2 middle pieces are 24 x 36 . Left and right column pieces 20 x 30.

Fewer pieces forces me to pick higher quality, which should be a win.

      • Might make the wall look crowded. Add up the widths and add in the amount of space between frames. It only leaves you with about five inches between frames. They need more space.

        • How much space between frames would be about right?

          • Frames that size, about a foot.

Hang them and stand back and analyze what it looks like.

    • Thanks Larry

  • Firstly, welcome to AFI! This site certainly is chock full of pertinent details. So search away, read and heed. WOOHOO!

You say you want feedback in terms of selling, but not feedback on the booth shot? Please clarify what you mean. Seems the sentence in your initial post is incomplete anyway.

Of the two images you've attached, the first one, the smaller file, the one showing the interior of the booth, represents the perspective and angle of view you should always show in your jury booth image. The other one is pulled back too far showing too much exterior, plus you have sunlight causing glare in the lens, which is an immediate distraction.

So please clarify what you want help with and I'll be happy to continue. I look forward to reading more from you here on AFI. WOOHOO!
