I’m doing Upper Arlington OH on Labor Day, Sept. 5. Does anyone do both Bloomington IN, which is on that same Saturday and Sunday (Sept 3-4), AND Upper Arlington? Last year at Upper Arlington I overheard people talking about having done Fourth Street also; but I had no time to go ask, and wasn’t sure who I heard anyway. Technically the shows are about 4 hours drive apart. I’d need to take down my booth at one and race over to the other, probably having to do the set up in the morning, as it would be dark by the time I arrived. I’m wondering if it is a feasible thing to do or insane, considering fatigue after teardown.

I applied to both, just assumed I would not get accepted to both. I have not been accepted to Bloomington in something like 8 years, so I hate to pass it up. But last year was my first time at Upper Arlington, so I’d like to build on what I started there.

Thanks!

  • "I have not been accepted to Bloomington in something like 8 years"

That sounds about par the course for a lot of us ;-) It's been about 6 years since I was last in there. It was always my best show and the one where the more serious work sold. Get lots of rest, and get yourself organized for tear down so you can get out of there quickly. Good luck!

    • Holy cow: I just looked it up: it's not 8 years, it's 12! Time flies ?!
  • trust me it is doable, been doing it for centuries--makes me a lot of moola.
    • So you've been doing the two back to back? Do you share the driving with anyone? I've been figuring it out, and the whole way between would mean driving at least 4 hours in the dark. I'm not sure I'm up for it. Sometimes I'm really psyched at the end of a show, but I'm more likely to be really tired.

If I had to choose between them, I assume Bloomington is the better choice? It's been so long since I did it, I don't really have a realistic reference point, other than AFSB : no recent sales data of my own.

    • Thanks. I have no one to share the driving with, or the set-up/tear down chores, so it’s all on me, unfortunately. I burned out my husband on this stuff years ago. Plus he will never take time off work (he's afraid to, and I can't argue with that).

I’m considering renting a tent from Upper Arlington, but that would save me only a hour of set-up. Figuring out how to hang my grids from an unfamiliar tent might take as much time as setting up the fast ez-up I use for one day shows.

      unfortaunately.
