Beverly Hills Artshow

I just noticed that the applications are open for the Beverly Hills ArtShow, but I can't find any reviews of it.  Does anyone have any experience with it?  I currently live in Nashville, and am thinking of moving to the LA area in the next year or so.  It could be a good way to test the water.    Thank you.

  • I have not done this show only because I'm currently in a gallery in the area. It is extremely contemporary! Sorry Thomas, no western at this show! Los Angeles is booming with contemporary art the last few years and is starting to compete with New York. When I walked this show last year there was many different styles of contemporary, but no traditional or western art! Every booth was something you would see in a gallery in Chelsea, NY. I would google some galleries in the BH area and compare your work to them. Most the artists I talk to aren't your typical art festival artist. Most all of them are gallery represented with only a couple of festivals each year.

  • There are two shows. The spring is better than the fall? The jury images are odd because they require 8 images of art plus a booth shot.

I have tried to get in for about 5 years to either one, and I have been rejected every time. Part of me wants to crawl under a rock and die. I think they want work that is non traditional, as in modern abstractly type color washes and stuff. I am mostly western, so that is what I tell myself to comfort the rage and fury. I still think that rich people, no matter where they currently live, would have some ties to horses.

Booth fee is average, 1100 bucks or so for a double. Hope you get in! And I say that as I scan the horizon looking for that final resting spot to crawl and be alone with my thoughts .
