I am moving from the spectator side of the table to the artist side and want to capitalize on my Art-Fair experience.
I am making the jump from 'traditional-employment' to 'full-time-art' and have several questions.
1) How many shows do you, as a 'working artist' do in a year?
2) How much of a return do you see above and beyond booth fees and commissions?
3) For 2-D artists, which moves more, originals or prints?
4) For 2-D artists, do you perfer to sell / display framed art, or prints in racks?
5) Which shows are NOT Juried and which have AFFORDABLE booth fees (less than $100)
6) I am living/working in Northwest Ohio.

  • You don't say much about yourself. What's your medium and have you ever walked an art show? A lot of what you are asking is determined through trial and error. Most artists that do art shows apply to many more than they can do and then do the ones that they are accepted to. And getting accepted isn't easy. You need to have good work and good jury images. I suggest reading the archives to get more of an idea what it's all about.
