I do pieces that move, open or change. In single photographs, they look like nothing special. I can't convey what they do in a single jury image, but not sure how to get the idea across.

1- I did one photo with  spliced images to show a ring converts to a pendant... hoping that may work Haven't gotten a response from a just to know if it works..

2-I have ring locket pieces that open to reveal hidden items, should I do a multiple view of that image? I saw a juried piccie that showed 5 different rings in one photo so is that something that is allowed?

Anyone do moveable or convertable changing pieces had any experience with this?

I would stick to 2 images ,one open, one closed...

1- this is one I've practiced with to show how it converts.

Rose ring (wax so far) that opens revealing a bee.

Swan ring opens to reveal pop up ballerina.

  • I've done it for mixed media artists that had pieces that opened and closed, and for jewelers that created boxes that was shown open and closed. I've also done it for a jeweler who sold a pin mounted on a stand and then the pin by itself.

What you need to do is create clean non distracting photographs that have identical matching backgrounds so if you have two images together there's absolutely nothing distracting about them. They need to read well in a second or two. No question about whether it's the same piece from two angles. And I always recommend not using more than one multiple piece image in a jury set so you don't visually overload the jurors.
