After much moaning and groaning and hair pulling I've finally finished my new website.  I  need to know now the good and the bad!  I'm open to any suggestions for change.  (I do intend to add a picture of me working in the about section.)  I also would like some examples of meta descriptions.  Don't know if I'm doing it exactly right.  Thanks in advance! • Hey Sara, Congrats!  Took a quick look, you have a lot of good things going on there.  Look again at the photos of your work.  To my eye, most of them need to be much brighter.  Might not be a matter of rephotographing them, but having the photographer work on the levels, brightness. contrast.  Make them "sing" a little"  Better to have them a little too bright than too dark in my opinion.  Most of the handbags look better but some seemed to not illuminate the handles very well.  Good Luck!

    • Thanks Jerry, now that I've got the core done I will go back and clean up some things like the pictures!

  • hey hey wonderful works out there, the website is simple and easy to navigate, but i ll suggest you link it to your social medias and if possible let visitors be able to comment or drop a feed back.  i ll like to exhibit alongside with you some day

    • I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to link to facebook but I'm still waiting on an answer from the help desk!  Hopefully soon!  thanks for checking it out!

      • Hi Sarah - I see you got the Facebook link working - that's great.

Just one suggestion - if you could make your links open in a new window I think it would be even better.  By opening in a new window your not sending people away from your website.

        Hope that helps.

        • Robert, I don't know how to do that.  Is this something I need to ask my web host?

          • I'd guess it is a setting in template -- check the FAQs at IndieMade.com. I'm sure it is easy. On this site all I had to do was check a box.

          • Hi Sarah,

I use Weebly so it's a simple matter of checking a box to have any links open in a new window.  I'm not sure what service you're using so you may have to contact them.

  • Here is a link about meta descriptions: http://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/how-to-write-meta-description-ht

Turns out they are helpful for SEO.

I just looked at your site. It is so pretty. Clean and modern, easy to read -- but mostly attractive which will help the shopping. Looks like there is an integrated shopping cart, so people can by online. Is that part of the IndieMade.com package? Nice touch.

This is a solid start and pretty much you know how to do it all now, right? So the adding of products, photos, story, show schedule will just be clicking and typing ... great job. AND you'll have it all ready for the show season. Aren't you glad you did this?

This site, and my other sites (except for Constant Contact--I can call them, but the price is $$$ for their service) also require sending email questions and them getting back to me. Hopefully you get used to it and just know that is the pace at which  change takes place and you go on to something else. Don't tell me there isn's always something else!

    • Connie,I looked at that link about meta descriptions but I'm afraid it's a little over my head.  I would love it if someone could give me an example of a good one.  Are they supposed to include the url?
