I'm doing the Dogwood Festival in Atlanta next month. I'm looking for a hotel close by the show where I can park an oversized van; one with an open lot, can't do a parking garage. There are 3 listed on the website, but 2 of those have parking garages, and the third looks like it may be far from the show. Thanks for your help.

When I'm doing shows in midtown Atlanta I stay at the Highland Inn. It's only 4 miles from Piedmont park, open lot free parking (I drive an e-250) free breakfast, in room fridge and walking distance to restaurants and stores. I travel alone and I feel very safe in this neighborhood. Good luck with Dogwood
That's a very good idea if its you're type of place. I'd check with mgt. to see what else might be going on that weekend that might attract a hip but noisy crowd that could keep you up most of the night. Still, a great alt. to chain motels along the expressway.
There's a Super 8 on Peachtree, about 3-4 miles north of Piedmont Park. They have a lot of surface parking lot. You don't have to juggle the Interstate on- and offramps, just stay on the road - go to Google and download the route after going to the Super 8 website for it's address.
If you do stay there, ask for an upper floor (I remember there are about 6 floors) - quieter than facing the parking lot. It has an elevator. There's a nearby small shopping mall that has a very good grocery for supplies, since the food in the park has always been of "interesting" quality.

Wow, totally forgot about that one. It's basically across the street from Savannah College of Art & Design. Excellent neighborhood and I don't even think it's even 3 miles away from the park. Good thinking Michael.
Like Dann said, you won't find anything within a few miles of the park with an open parking lot but there are plenty of chain hotels along I-85 north of downtown/midtown that aren't that far and it's pretty easy access from the park to the interstate. Their are several at both the Druid Hills and Lenox Road exits in addition to the ones Dann mentioned. You won't be more than 10-15 minutes.
Jo, Piedmont Park, where Dogwood Festival is held is in the middle of Midtown Atlanta. there are only large luxury hotels and smaller boutique hotels in the immediate area. I'd suggest trying the LaQuinta on Chantilly Dr. Chantilly is a little street off Cheshire Bridge Rd. which is off local access I-85. West Peachtree will take you right onto it. LaQuinta is about a 3-4 mile drive from the park. There's also a Red Roof Inn one exit further north at the corner of N. Druid Hills Rd. and Roxboro. I think that's as close as you're going to get. We're a big, crazy town and our streets twist and turn and change names frequently. The good news is street signs are overhead each intersection and large yellow signs just before each intersection tells you what street is coming up next.
