Hi,
We've been doing shows for a number of years and usually stayed within a 5-hour driving radius of Philadelphia until the economy changed. We're looking for a show for the weekend of September 18 of this year, and are wondering if anyone has anything to say about the Atlanta Arts Festival in Piedmont Park. The deadline is today (nothing like waiting until the last minute, eh?!), but would appreciate any info even if it's past the deadline so we can consider the show for next year.
Rona does precious metal jewelry with an average price of $500. We don't necessarily need huge crowds; we just need the right customers.
Would love to hear from anyone who knows about this show!
Thanks,
~Emily

Thanks for your reply. I found it really helpful. I actually don't participate in a lot of forums on line, but have been finding this one really great! Rona and I will definitely apply to the Atlanta show for 2011 based on what you, Michael, and Connie have said. We did apply to the Dogwood for this year but didn't get in, and now that I hear what you and Michael have said, I'm not feeling so bad about that.
Thanks again, and best of luck with all your shows.

All in all, We like how the Atlanta show is STILL an ART show, not music and beer fest and will go back if get in again.
Hope this helps.

I also did the Dogwood festival in the same park several weekends ago. There were 3 times as many people, and I did 1/3 the sales. Was this the same city? I think the only reason for people to come to the Atlanta Arts festival was to look at art, and in my case, buy it. (My neighbors did not do as well, so take this with a grain of salt). At the Dogwood I think there are other motivations for being there.
I really liked the way the Atlanta Arts Festival was run. The director was right there for any problems that may have popped up. Not so with Dogwood.
Thanks for the reply, and no worries about its being too late. We had pretty much decided not to apply for this year because it's quite a long drive for us and we have found some other possibilities for that weekend a little bit nearer to home. But the info you provided is wonderful! We'll definitely consider this show for 2011.
Best,
Emily
