Hi, We moved to SC about 18 months ago from Milwaukee, so I'm still trying to figure out which shows are going to be the right fit for my oil paintings. Has anyone done the Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival? I'm considering applying, but wondered if anyone had any thoughts. My oil paintings range in the $400-$700 range. Or if you know of any good shows within 4-5 hours of the upstate of SC, I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!

  • Thanks for your feedback, Michael.

Dirt??? That doesn't sound very appealing to get all dusty (or muddy with rain)... thanks for the warning, it's nice to know those things before committing to a show! It won't keep me from applying, but it's definitely something to consider.

    Hi Marie,

I'm a glassblower (jeweler to some) and I've done the Arts in the Heart 2 times. I'm hoping to go again this year. It's a good show for me. There are several painters and photography artists that attend every year there, but I've only had input from one of the painters who did not do especially well. Their price ranges were quite a bit higher than you've indicated too and that might have been their difficulty. It's a hometown event, most of the locals turn out and support it. It is well run, but the artists are on dirt (not grass, just dirt) and it tends to be a relatively dusty show. We have to wipe down the glass constantly to keep it looking its best. Good luck and I hope this helps a little.
