I'm going to turn 70 in September and a Jean and I were discussing what we would do if one of us had a medical emergency at a show. Note: I am writing this on the way to the gym and wondering if our trainer will up my dumb bells to 20 pounds each today LOL? Answers: if it was Jean I could get other artists or hire street person to help me with take down and loading. If it was me, the problem would be greater. Jean could pack up and take the tent down with help. Loading the truck was another issue. All of the stuff won't go in unless it is packed right. So, today's project while loading up for a show on Saturday is to take pictures of each step in loading the Suburban to show how everything goes in and where. Prints of this will go in the notebook we take for set up etc.
Done at gym. Arghhh 20 on some 15 on others arghhhh.

Heck I expect to be working alone and had not given this a thought. I guess it's best to make friends early and often ! and stay ahead of the karma power curve
This is a great discussion... I turned 48 this year, and am being monitored for heart /cholesterol issues. Most of my events here tend to be of the Festival nature. I tend to do these alone. I NEED a back up plan!
Guess I should put together an instruction book....for my daughter/best friend to use in the event that I am unable to set-up/teardown booth in such a situation. Hubbs would more than likely have to be with me!!!
I do however carry a portfolio with all my pertinent medical info... ie: allergies, list of meds, conditions that may need to be known, Name of Doctor, insurance info. Choice of Medical Facility, etc. My daughter had severe allergies (over 50) and received immunotherapy for such. Epi-pens, Medic alerts... the whole she-bang. So I just started keeping such info about me when I started doing shows...in case. Thanks for starting this Richard! Food for thought....
Richard - not just medical emergencies, but any emergency. Our last show, home was on the market, some rotten &%*#@#&(* person stole the lockbox off our house. We got a call from our Realtor at 4:45 on Friday of Memorial Day weekend, we were in downtown Seattle at a show, 25 miles from home. It would have taken 2 hours to get home. Lucky for us our Realtor decided to take it upon himself to replace the locks and a very wonderful neighbor volunteered to help. However, it really got us wondering, if Dale had left and I tried to finish on my own for the evening. I could have bummed a ride home with another artist who was also headed our direction, but really made me realize how much I depend on my husband as we're closing up for the evening. I have trouble with the zippers and am short so that creates a few challenges. We did alert the artist coordinator of our section of the issue and he was willing to help us close up early if necessary with no consequences. I think he was wondering why we just didn't leave without an explanation!!
