I have been receiving emails from this show since its beginning several years ago. I don't know why I'm getting them since I never subscribed to the email list. Anyway, does any one here do the show? Anyone thinking about doing it? I'll probably never do it, just wondering who's doing it and how its going there? Today is apparently the last day for the show this year.

  • Thanks for the response and kind words, John. I'm glad to hear your show is doing well and that artists are pleased. I probably won't do the show since it's so far from me here in Wyoming and I can't imagine coming that far for one show. Not that I wouldn't travel like that for the right show, we're also not fans of summer shows since we don't like being out in possibly too hot weather. I did investigate the possibility of coming to Duluth a few years ago and discovered tourism is high in August and lodging costs would be as well. So that's it in a nutshell. Maybe someday. We'll see. Until then, I hope your show continues to grow and do well. Thanks again for speaking about it here on AFI. WOOHOO!

    • I'll keep you on the list just in case, but please note, Duluth is rarely that hot (we haven't reached 90 at all this year) and August (art fair month) it is typically the best weather in Duluth!  Yes, Duluth is a BEAUTIFUL city and has a 1% vacancy rate for hotels (so yes- high hotel fees.)  However, our art fair allows artists to sleep in their canopies right on site if wanted.

This is DeBora, director of Art in Bayfront Park -  (I was just giving a quote from an art buyer named John above - sorry for the confusion). www.artinbayfrontpark.com

      • Hi, DeBora. I almost asked "John" what happened to the original Director of the show since I remember it was in fact you. I think signing your name more often would help me feel better about communicating with you as it does with any one. The internet is a goofy place sometimes and that helps bring down the walls a bit. Thanks again for responding.

  • Hi Barrie:  I'm the Director of Art in Bayfront Park.  We have scouts that look for great artists and if they find one, they put them on our list.  If you want to not receive e-mails simply push 'unsubscribe' at the bottom of the e-mail.  There is a listing of all artists who attended our show at www.artinbayfrontpark.com - people can also sign up there to be on our mailing list.  We had a TON of artists this year tell us good things about our art fair which ended yesterday.  Here's a couple examples of feedback:

Thanks for a great show. Saturday was our biggest one-day sale of the summer. Keep up the good work!

Just wanted to let you know this year was a awesome year for us.  Keep up the great work!!  Thank you again!! - Jim and Erika Snell
And our art buyers love it - example -
I loved the artist, Ribbie Robinson's handmade leather handbags so much, I bought 10 of them for gifts! And I also purchased a bunch of dresses and hats from your fiber artist Barb Kochevar, for baby show gifts!  Now I'm off to look at more... John Goldfine
