Cherry Creek Art Festival has produced the Art Denver show that is a first time event in November in the Convention Center. With Cherry Creek producing the show I see it as a tremendous show with great new and future potential.

An inside show in November sounds like a good idea. Does anyone else have any thoughts and opinions about this  show?

  • I thought I'd better jump in here and let you know they tossed me out of the pool. I got their rejection yesterday. Congratulations to you, Greg, if you have received Accepted notice. WOOHOO!

This might have been a good show for me since it's just 400 miles from my home. It would have been the last show of my fall tour, and I might be relieved that I'm not doing it since I recently decided to start my fall tour three weeks earlier than expected with The Cotton South show at Georgia.

With applying to the November Cherry Creek show in mind once again, I might figure out how I can set up an indoor booth and photograph it instead of sending the outdoor booth shot again. That might not be why I got rejected, but chances are the booth shot is what does it every time. One of the problems I'm faced with is the fact that our work will sell during the fall tour and I won't have enough available to make a good indoor booth shot before going back out on tour once again. Winter will be the worst time for me to set up a booth, but since I live in such a small town I could do it in the town hall!

I have a lot of good customers in Denver, none of whom came from us being in an outdoor arts & crafts festival. I've only done two outdoor shows in that area, neither of which were any good. All the indoor venues I've done have been pretty good, but they were metaphysical fairs and fantasy/sci-fi conventions. Which is to say that I would have liked to do the indoor Cherry Creek venue since I think it will attract a different patron than the outdoor venues do.

    • Barrie...like my Mama told me when I was a little kid...if you don't want to get tossed out of the pool then don't pee in it.

It is good to have both an outdoor booth shot and a indoor both shot. Booth shots always seem to be the most difficult to achieve a photo that most of us are extremely satisfied with. I am constantly taking photos of my wood art since I have a permanent photo section set up above my barn. I have taken booth photos outdoors with some acceptable results and have some booth photos indoors using just sidewalls. The Cherry Creek Art Denver show requires that we provide our sidewalls, framework, etc. This will be good for us since I bought a similar special setup for when we show at JazzFest in New Orleans since you don't use your a tent there...

As with all shows we do, I will bring my camera and tripod and photograph my display. It takes me so many photos just to get one I am happy with.

I know your fall tour will be great...! Have fun.....!!!

    • Barrie, Thank you for the plug. T

  • It's always better to download the podcast and listen to it from your computer or device. That way you can back it up if you missed something or were daydreaming.

    • Daydreaming ... that does happen. Thanks for that tip, Barry.

Greg, here is what support at BlogTalkRadio.com just told me:

It sounds like their computer may need a flash update. Below is all the information you’ll need to update your flash:

      • Hello Connie,

I looked at the link and that stuff just flew way over my non-technical head. I'll just pass on the podcast stuff cause I've managed to screw up my computer way too many times in the past

  • Right. Whoever knows? What kind of a gambler are you? Generally speaking do you think that CCAF can only hit a home run? I hope so.

I did a podcast with Terry Adams a few weeks ago and we talked about Art Denver, you might listen to it to pick info from him: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/artfairs/2014/06/02/birthday-prizes-dr...

    • Connie, I cannot get the podcast to work on my computer. Someone else commented about the same problem.

Carol and I plan on doing the Art Denver show. It is a 1900 mile drive one way but I figgered we would give it a go. I just bought a new van about 5 weeks ago and it doesn't like being parked in the carport. How's that for another reason for a road trip...

      • It is available on iTunes also, Greg, search for Art Fairs. No one told me there was a problem with the podcasts listening -- I'm off to fix that now. Pay them too much money for this not to be working. Thanks for that info.

Terry and his team are pulling out all the stops, connections, ideas to make a one of a kind event. Sounds like you are itchy for getting out on the road.

Our present van made its inaugural trip to Denver from Michigan and was happy to be there ;)
