I am asking for a friend who needs one. I know Rio used to have one, but they don't carry it anymore. I don't sell rings anymore, because - surprise! Too many were stolen. 

I was trying to explain the concept to him, but it wasn't getting across. Something inexpensive or that he can make himself would be a plus. He sells only a few at a time, space is limited, and they are on consignment, so he is not there to watch them. 

So not the kind that runs a dowel through the display from front to back and through the ring.

The kind someone once showed me online has the ring connected to a piece of wire, that runs through the slot and to a washer or some such thing on the bottom. Though I don't know how that doesn't just dangle underneath and look sloppy. 

I couldn't find any good photos online that showed how the bottom part works.
