Another Newbie

Hi!

I'm Elizabeth Bennett (and yes, I get lots of comments about my name for those of you who are Pride & Prejudice fans!) and I'm a fiber artist from Carrollton, Georgia. I'm a long time weaver and kumist, and a relatively new dyer/surface design for garments artist. I'm just starting to do shows again since I was fortunate to be able to retire from my day job in December. I'm looking to start slowly. I did one successful show in December, hope to do a couple in spring/summer, and 4-6 in fall. My goals for the next few months are to work up a "line" for summer as most of my work tends to be fall and winter oriented (wool) and work on an outdoor booth display. I've already enjoyed reading lots of the discussion threads and look forward to learning lots more -- and meeting great people!

  • Hello Elizabeth and welcome.  We are glad to have you here with us.  I'm sure you will have many questions along the way.  Feels free to post them as they arise.  Winter seems to be a great time to plan your schedule and get your inventory built up.  Good luck to you and yes, do post photos of some of your work.  We'd all love to see them.

  • Welcome, Elizabeth. Congratulations on retiring and being able to pursue the excitement of weaving and garment making. One of the most popular categories for sales in the art fair business is the "wearables." You might also join the group "Fiber Fanatics" on this site to network with other fiber people and get more information.
