Android vs Iphone

Choices, choices and more choices.

Like many of you, it's time to make the change. Too many hidden charges and fees to keep that charge card machine.

I went to the local Radio Shack and ATT stores and came home even more confused than before we went. So, if you would, please educate me in what works best for you.

What carrier, phone and plans do you all have?

I have already received my card reader from square and all that is done and ready to go. Just not that phone savy so please help.

Waiting eagerly for your reply's!!

  • I upgraded to the iphone. I have been with Verizon since 1990 and have no plans of switching. The plans through Verizon don't have rollover minutes like some other companies but I would rather have the coverage throughout the US when I am traveling.

I think for most people, if they start with an iphone, they tend to stay with the iphone. Same with Droid users. So you will probably have to figure out what works best for you. (I also like the iphone for the great camera it has)

I am sure with any smart phone, the apps are similar. For my business esp at art shows, I use the Square, Go Payment, Maps, Paypal (they have check capture so I can photograph a check and have it deposited), weatherTAP,  Google Voice for unlimited texting, Evernote for keeping track of emails, sales and notes and Gas Buddy for finding inexpensive gas.

  • I have a Droid X (verizon) I got just so I could use square. I've never had trouble getting square to work, it is the best thing ever invented (seriously!!), but my phone has crashed/frozen at other times, once playing Angry Birds and once deleting emails. It's a pain to get it to unfreeze. Next year I think I'll be getting an iphone.
  • I recently went with the LG Optimus V droid using Virgin Mobile's $25 a month for 300 talk minutes/unlimited data.  I'm using Go Payment.  Haven't had service area problems to date that I've noticed.  My Radio Shack salesman uses the same phone with both Square and Go Payment for his side business.
  • I have an HTC Incredible (Android) through Verizon.  My overall experience is that Verizon has the most reliable coverage in the most places.  I LOVE my Android phone but I was a google geek long before I got it.  Square works really well on this phone.
