I'm a moderator and to minimize the amount of spam the forum gets, one of my jobs is to approve everyone that signs up. One of the things I noticed is that most artists who are signing up are over 50 years old, and a great many are new to shows. No wonder some of the responses to my blog post were from artists that didn't depend on shows as a full time income.
One of the things I instituted on my forum was to get people to post an introduction or "about me" post.
Connie, what do you think?

Sure, it's a good idea, Larry. The welcome section is supposed to do that. All new members get an email welcoming them and asking them to tell us their story in that section, but if you have an idea to make it more interactive that would be great.

The problem is that there are many members who may not consider posting to the welcome section, especially those who are experienced artists.
Maybe if you start a thread telling everyone about your (and Norm's) experience, other artists will join in. I would.
