When I have a two or three day show, I wait til the show is over to take care of my credit cards slips. My merchant told me it was ok to do this ....never had a problem with waiting. I've never been more than two days after the final day of the show.
I guess it depends on the merchant you work with. I haven't had that issue. I explained that up front when I signed on......If I am at an out of town show and can't access or I'm just too darned tired to do it....will it be a problem? They told me no...just do it within a couple of days. It hasn't cost me more doing that fortunately.

I tried that. The terminal automatically dials a 1-800 number in order to batch out. Whenever I dial "9" then attempt to plug the terminal into the hotel's phone jack, the terminal gets gets a busy signal. There has got to be a way to do this without waiting until I get home. I won 't be home until Monday evening.

You can edit the phone number it dials if you have the manual. If you do, you probably have to put a space in between the 9 and the 1.
I used to have a similar problem with my laptop connecting from hotel rooms on a dialup. My work around was to carry a telephone splitter that allows two telephones to connect to one telephone line. That way I could dial the 9 from the hotel phone and them have my laptop dial the local number.
You can try going to the front desk and ask if you can connect there. That's what I used to do at the Days Inn at State College when I had to batch out on my old credit card machine.
