ArtPrize Grand Rapids at Grand Rapids Ballet

ArtPrize Grand Rapids, one of the most unusual art competitions around, will open with a wine and cheese reception in the lobby of the Grand Rapids Ballet at 341 Ellsworth SW from 4-6pm on Wednesday, September 22. The competition officially starts at 6pm. ArtPrize, now in its 2nd year, boasts over 1700 artists exhibiting at over 200 different locations around the city of Grand Rapids. Last year over 200,000 people attended and participated in a popular vote that determined the winners of $450,000 in prize money, including a $250,000 first prize. This year, many more attendees are expected, drawing art lovers from all over the world from September 22 through October 6. My entry, "Silent Stairways," a seven panel installation of Lake Michigan beach stairs, illustrating one of the most unique elements of the West Michigan landscape will be on exhibit at the Grand Rapids Ballet at 341 Ellsworth SW.
