Hello, haven't been on this website in a while. Just need to vent about the rudest response I've ever received from a show producer in 7 years. Applied to ART ON THE ROCKIES. Received 3 separate emails in 2 weeks. I kid you not:
1st email- "We love your work. You are in!" (Yay)
2nd email - "That 1st email was confusing; you are actually #10 on the Wait list" (oh...ok)
3rd email - "You are #64 on the Wait list" (Wow - what happened in 2 weeks??)
I sent 2 polite emails just asking for clarification - no response
After 2 months I call the director. I practiced what I was going to say since I wanted to remain calm and respectful.
Me: "Hi Colleen, I'm one of the artists that applied to your show, do you have a minute?"
Colleen: "What about?" (nice)
I explain that it would be helpful to get some clarification. She quickly told me that she would put me back on #10 spot, and said that she had responded to my emails (BS). When I told her that it had been somewhat of a confusing. frustrating experience - she says "the only reason you are frustrated is because you didn't get in" and she hung up.
WOW! so, I guess I won't be doing that show - and I hope artists who do Art On THE Rockies have a better experience than I did

Two year's of reviews by different artists in different mediums have been posted about this show on AFI. Buyer Beware! AKA "the used car show" LOL.
Sorry to hear about this experience. You might want to search AFI in the future if you don't already know about a particular venue. Here's why:
ART ON THE ROCKIES REVIEW JANUARY 2015
See. You might have avoided entering, or maybe you would have still wanted to chance it. But with a review like that, and a WARNING, I wouldn't even come close to it.
Steamboat Springs is a better show to do at about the same time. I''m going to Jackson this year but would alternate Steamboat with it anytime. It has been reviewed on this site.
Yeah, Steamboat also has Art Steamboat with a $10,000 grand prize. You might want to check into that ASAP. I think the deadline is rapidly approaching.
I was referring to Art in the Park. Yes there is $$$$ in Steamboat Springs to win and collect.
